DES has received the following awards & recognitions: 

 

Georgia Reward School: Highest Performance 2018

Highest-Performing Reward Schools are among the highest 5-percent of the Title I schools in the state for three consecutive years in terms of proficiency on the statewide assessments. 

 

Georgia Reward School:  Highest Progress 2017, 2016, 2013

High Progress Schools are among the top 10% of the state's Title I schools making the most progress in improving the performance of the "all students" category over three years on the state assessments

 

Beating the Odds Designation 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012

Beating the Odds shows how a school's performance compares to similar schools across the state. 

It a statistical analysis that provides contextual understanding of a school's College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) based on student characteristics outside the school's control

 

5 Star Climate Rating 2016, 2015

The  Star Ratings for School Climate calculation consists of four domains: Survey, School Discipline, Safe and Substance-Free Learning Environment, and School Wide Attendance.

 

Title I Distinguished School 2018, 2013, 2012, 2010, 2007, 2006

Title I schools have significant populations of students who are economically disadvantaged. These schools receive federal money to assist with the education of their students.

These schools are showing that high expectations, coupled with effective educators in the building, produce outstanding student achievement.

 

Georgia School of Excellence, 2011-12

The Georgia Schools of Excellence Program honors schools from each of the state's 14 congressional districts.  Elementary, middle, and high schools that are either academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement are awarded. These schools serve as models for other schools throughout the state.

 

2010 Gold Star Award 

The school awards, developed by GOSA and approved by the State Board of Education, are part of Georgia's Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS).
