Demorest Elementary held the first-ever school reading bowl on Thursday, December, 19th, organized by Mrs. Baker, the Media Specialist. There were 17 participants from fourth and fifth grade. The participants read 4 books and then competed in teams of 4 to 5 to see who could answer questions about the books in the fastest manner by being the first to "buzz in." The winning team was coached by Mrs. Jana Guadalupe and consisted of the following students: Bella Hunter, Mila, Frias, Karli Holcomb, and Noah Tooley. The winning team received a STEM building kit, and all participants received a Reading Bowl t-shirt, and a hardcover book. Parents also attended the event.
