DES Celebrates Read Across America Week

Demorest Elementary School celebrated Read Across America Week and the birthday of Dr. Seuss from March 3rd -7th. The week began with a Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) session on Monday from 8:00 to 8:30 AM. Kindergarten and first-grade students read excerpts from Dr. Seuss books on the morning news, and some classrooms enjoyed green eggs and ham. Former students of Demorest Elementary, including Zac Baker, Jack Butterworth, Hayden Froyen, Ava Cash, and Harlee Roberts, came to read to current students and emphasize the significance of perseverance in pursuing their dreams. Additionally, some classes engaged in a Dr. Seuss Trivia contest. To conclude the week, fifth-grade students created Oobleck during their 4-H activities.
